Until approx 1905 Steamcars are buggies like Edi's car. Tiller steered, with the boiler and engine under the seat.

Stage 2 1905 - 1915

From 1905 to approx 1918 most Steamcars have the familiar coffin nose bonnet with varying sizes of engine, boiler, and body styles.  This is the period of the mountain wagon .  The engine lies mid chassis and is a horizontal twin, direct geared to the rear axle.  The boiler is under the bonnet.
Stage 3 1916 - 1926

From approx 1918 to mid 1920's the Steamcars had a more conventional appearance, because they used a condenser to reuse the exhaust steam.  This condenser looks very much like a radiator and is mounted in the same place as on a petrol car.
